Martha Powell is a fashion design Senior from Birmingham, AL, who is currently studying at Lasell College in Newton, MA. She has been sewing for well over 5 years and has received training from industry professionals.  She has competed in costume competitions at Anime Boston three years in a row, as well as Persacon '08, winning third place in Anime Boston '11, best in show at Anime Boston '12, and First in Masters/Fan Favorite at Anime Southeast. Martha's work has also been featured in Boston Fashion week, five fashion shows at Lasell College, as well as SouthCoast Today, Emerson College's News Channel, and Emerson College's News Paper.
   

Martha has been trained in historical costuming, pattern drafting and grading, various couture sewing techniques, fashion illustration, design concepts, and hand appliqué, as well as Abode Photoshop and Illustrator. 

She prides herself in her attention to detail and accuracy when transforming a two-dimensional image into a wearable garment.  She has also spent a semester abroad in London, England, at the London College of Fashion where she trained in draping, corsetry and shoe making.
